Rural Fire Service

Rural Bush Fire Brigades - Published: 27 Jan 2006

Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades play a major role in fighting fires in almost 90% of NSW.  There are approximately 2500 brigades with a total of around 70000 members.  The majority of brigades were formed and organised by local Councils, however this has been recently changed and the Rural Fire Service now has total control & care, with Councils contributing an annual monetary amount instead.

Rural Fire Service Information - Published: 02 May 2006

Rural Fire Service Activities are now carried out under agreements between the Rural Fire Service and Council.  The Manager of the Mid Murray Zone, Mr Gary Eason is employed by the Rural Fire Service.  The zone now administered by Gary, consists of the Shires of Wakool, Murray, Deniliquin, Conargo (and Windouran) and Jerilderie.
