$400,000 Building Fund for Community Projects in Murray DarlingLast modified: June 19, 2009 - 9:07 AM
The Nationals, John Williams, Member for Murray Darling announced that Community Groups from the Murray Darling electorate will be eligible to apply for funding under the new $35 million building fund announced in the NSW Budget to support jobs, stimulate growth and improve community facilities. The NSW Community Building Partnership will invest $300,000 into building local community projects in each of the 93 NSW electoral districts, but Murray Darling will receive a further $100,000 more because we are considered a district with higher umemployment.
It means the Government will contribute to the cost of building important community projects such as:
The partnership is open to community groups, not for profit organisations, non government organisations and local Councils. Councils will be required to make a co contribution and the partnership encourages groups to contribute in cash or in kind to get local projects built faster. A community group that has started raising some of hte cost of repairing a local hall roof for example will be able to appy for the rest of the funding for their project and get the project completed faster.
