Drivers Warning - Be Careful on Wet Roads

Last modified: June 2, 2009 - 11:12 AM

Wakool Shire Council has reminded its residents to be mindful of local roads during this much welcomed wet-weather.

Director of Engineering Services, Brian Ebery said people travelling on rural roads should be cautious when driving or find alternative routes.

‘There are plenty of works happening around the Shire at the moment to upgrade our roads but we still have those throughout the Shire that are not sealed and have therefore become very uneven, wet and slippery as a result of this rain.’

‘We encourage all drivers to stick to the alternative bitumen routes where possible,’ Mr Ebery said.

Council has also encouraged residents and commuters to be particularly mindful of the current works along Noorong Road.

‘The works along Noorong Road are coming along nicely but as a result of the rain setting in it has become particularly difficult to drive through.’

‘At this point we encourage local traffic only and suggest that drivers avoid travelling down the section of road works and take alternative routes where possible,’ Mr Ebery said.

For more information contact Brian Ebery at the Moulamein Office on (03) 5887 5007 during business hours.
