Is there Filtered Water in the Towns in the Wakool Shire & What Charges Associated

Yes, the towns of Tooleybuc, Moulamein and Barham have a dual water supply, that is, both raw and potable water. Currently only the filtered potable water is metered.

Murray Downs, Koraleigh and Wakool have a potable filtered water supply, which is metered.

Council introduced on 1st July 2005, Best Practise Water Pricing for filtered water at this stage, whereby a small excess fee will be charged for every kilolitre of water used. It is a User Pays Scheme. This is the result of a push by the State Government.

Filtered Water Useage Charges for 2005/2006 are:

  • Residential up to 400 kilolitre = $0.80 per kilolitre
  • Residential over 400 kilolitre = $1.60 per kilolitre
  • Non Residential = $0.80 per kilolitre
  • Dairy Farms Water Sales (Bulk Sales) = $450 per mgl or $0.45 per kilolitre

Filtered Water Sales from Standpipes are available at a cost of $1.00 per kilolitre.
