About the Council
The Shire covers an area of 7,549sq kilometers. It is a small rural Council located in the south western Riverina of New South Wales between the Murray and the Murrumbidgee Rivers. The Shire has a population of 4,935 (2002 census) incorporating the towns of Barham, Moulamein, Tooleybuc, Wakool, Murray Downs, Goodnight and Koraleigh. The majority of the Shire is an extensive flood plain, with a large number of water courses, bridges and extensive road network. Within the shire there is diversified land use, vegetation, wildlife and people thus making the shire a wonderful place to live and visit that encompasses a wide range of fascinating places and people.
