Disaster Plan (DISPLAN)

The Wakool Shire Disaster Plan (Displan) has been prepared by the Wakool Shire Local Emergency Management Committee in accordance with the State Emergency and Rescue Management Act, 1989 Section 29 (1).

AIM:

1.1     To develop a prompt and efficient service to meet the needs of persons affected or threatened by disaster in the Wakool Shire.

PURPOSE

1.2     This plan covers preparedness measures, the conduct of response operations and immediate, recovery measures for disasters within the Wakool Shire.  It encompasses arrangements for: 

a.     incidents controlled by combat agencies; 

b.     support to combat agencies in their single service roles; 

c.     emergency operations for which there is no combat agency; 

d.     circumstances where a combat agency has passed control to the LEOCON. 

AREA COVERED BY THIS PLAN

 1.3     The area covered by this plan is the whole of the Shire of Wakool.  The Moulamein and Barham Police Sectors are in the Shire.  Balranald Police Sector covers the western boundary of the Shire. 

1.4.1     The Shire is bordererd in the west by Balranald Shire, in the North by Hay Shire, in the East by Windouran and Murray Shires and in the South by the Victorian Border and neighbouring Victorian Shires of Gannawarra and Swan Hill Rural City. 

1.4.2  Establish liaison with planning committee of Victoria. 

1.5     The village of  Kyalite straddles the border with Balranald Shire.  By local arrangements, incidents and emergencies are carried out by Balranald Shire Rescue Units. 

1.6     Rescue areas follow Police Sector boundaries and extend outside the Shire.  The Moulamein rescue area extends eastwards into Windouran Shire.

The Barham rescue area extends eastward into Murray Shire.  The Swan Hill Rescue Services cross the border in the South of the Shire.
