Wakool is located approximately 36km from Barham and 58km from Deniliquin, with a population of 250.

Wakool Township has recently had filtered water connected and an augmented sewerage system is in the process of being constructed.

It is a quaint little country town surrounded by cereal & dairy farms. It is known historically as one of the first areas to grow rice and settled as one of the early soldier settlements.

Is a typical small country town with the post office located in the local cafe. Also has a Services Club and a locally owned pub (a renowned stop over between Echuca to Moulamein - a back block drive). Wakool has the usual country town sports, ie footy, netball and tennis.

Has a primary school to Year 6. Students then have a choice of attending either Barham High School or Deniliquin.

The Wakool Action Group is an active Community Group, who are always on the lookout for ways of improving the town. There are park areas where weary travellers are able to take a break during their trip.
